The visitor can see a hair lock of Clara Wieck and her pocket watch, the engagement gift from 1837, various certificates of Clara Wieck and Robert Schumann, samples of the young couple’s correspondence throughout the year 1840 and numerous weddings presents. The choral song ‚Zigeunerleben‘ from 1840 serves as a detailed example how Schumann composed a piece starting with a poem, developing the first compositional draft and going on to the engraver’s copy and first edition. A glance at the glass cabinet ‚Domesticity‘ reveals, amongst others, cutlery and tableware owned by the Schumann family.
