The permanent exhibition takes visitors on a journey through the life and work of Robert and Clara Schumann. More than 350 exhibits provide intimate insights into the everyday life of the famous artist couple. Various quotes introduce different themes in order to guide the visitor through each single room. Melodies from Schumann’s piano works of the early 1830s are made audible by a click clack ball run or a sound installation named Dancing Letters. By looking through the lenses of an opera glass from the 19th century the visitor experiences the premiere of Schumann’s opera Genoveva by means of a three-dimensional image of the original scenery.
